Gili Layar

Beautiful island named for its sail-shaped rock formation, offering excellent snorkeling and peaceful beaches

About Gili Layar

Gili Layar, which means "Sail Island" in Indonesian, gets its name from the distinctive sail-shaped rock formation that rises dramatically from its shores. This picturesque island is part of the Sekotong archipelago in Southwest Lombok, known for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and excellent snorkeling spots.

The island features beautiful white sand beaches shaded by coconut palms, with vibrant coral reefs just offshore. The waters around Gili Layar are teeming with marine life, including colorful tropical fish, sea turtles, and occasionally reef sharks. The sail-shaped rock formation provides a unique backdrop for photos and is a popular spot for sunset viewing.

With its peaceful atmosphere and relatively few visitors compared to the more famous northern Gilis, Gili Layar offers an authentic island escape. It's often included in island-hopping tours that visit multiple islands in the Sekotong area.
