Pink Beach (Tangsi Beach)

Experience the unique pink sands and vibrant underwater world of Lombok's hidden gem

About Pink Beach

Pink Beach, locally known as Tangsi Beach, is one of Lombok's most unique and enchanting natural wonders. Its distinctive pink sand is a rare phenomenon, created by microscopic red coral fragments (Foraminifera) that mix with the white sand, especially visible when wet.

Located in the remote southeastern part of Lombok, Pink Beach offers a serene and picturesque escape from the crowds. The calm, clear turquoise waters are perfect for swimming, and the vibrant coral reefs just offshore make it an excellent spot for snorkeling and diving.

Beyond its unique sand, the beach is surrounded by rolling hills, offering stunning panoramic views of the coastline and the surrounding islands. It's a truly magical place for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Why is the sand pink?

  • 1 Red Coral Fragments - The primary reason is the presence of tiny red coral fragments, specifically from a type of microscopic organism called Foraminifera.
  • 2 Mixing with White Sand - These red fragments mix with the natural white sand, creating the beautiful pink hue.
  • 3 Best Visibility - The pink color is most vibrant when the sand is wet or under direct sunlight.
