Sade Traditional Village

Step back in time and experience authentic Sasak culture

About Sade Village

Sade Village is one of the most well-preserved traditional Sasak villages in Lombok, offering a unique glimpse into the indigenous culture and way of life of the Sasak people. Located in Central Lombok, it's a living museum where ancient customs and traditions are still practiced daily.

The village is characterized by its distinctive traditional houses (Bale Tani) with thatched roofs made from alang-alang grass and walls constructed from bamboo and wood. The floors are often made of a mixture of clay, buffalo dung, and straw, which helps to keep the houses cool.

Visitors to Sade can observe traditional weaving, see the unique architecture, and learn about the Sasak people's customs, including their traditional ceremonies and social structures. Local guides, often residents of the village, provide insightful tours, sharing stories and explaining the significance of various aspects of their culture.
